About

The University of Louisville is committed to diversity, social justice and developing a culture of excellence as stated in the University’s 2020 Plan and the 21st Century Initiatives. The Office of Institutional Equity was established in 2001 to provide leadership and coordination in advancing diversity and globalization. In addition to providing leadership on diversity planning and university-wide initiatives on inclusive excellence, the office works with campus and community partners to:

  • Articulate and promote the university's commitment to diversity
  • Work collaboratively with central administration, deans, vice presidents, university departments and units to create inclusive workplace and learning environments
  • Monitor faculty and staff recruitment and retention practices as well as recruitment and retention of underrepresented students
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with the university's diversity & inclusion goals
  • Consult and counsel university administrators, units and departments regarding diversity and inclusion issues and opportunities
  • Support the work of the Commission on Diversity and Racial Equality, Commission on the Status of Women and Employee Resource Groups including the Black Faculty and Staff Association, Hispanic/Latin@ Faculty and Staff Association, Faculty & Staff for Human Rights, and the UofL Women’s Network.
